Your tour starts by picking you up from Thessaloniki centrally located hotels and apartments. Traveling by a minivan, seat back to enjoy some of the highlights of Thessaloniki’s historic center, starting with a visit to the White Tower, built by the Ottomans and still one of the city’s most memorable landmarks.
Galerius Arch and the Rotunda monument are to follow, two great representative monuments of the Roman Empire era build and supervised after Roman Emperor Galerius during the second half of the 4 th centrury AD as elements of an imperial precinct linked to his Thessaloniki palace.
Next stop going to the Northern part of the city will be at the emblematic Byzantine church of “Agios Dimitrios”. The church is the most important church of Thessaloniki for religious, historical and artistic reasons. The attraction is known for the existence of the underground ancient “Crypt” which was re-discovered after the fire of 1917 and was finally restored as an exhibition place in 1988. According to the Christian tradition, the saint was imprisoned here and died in 303 A.D.
